Name: Nicole Fabienne Murray
Job title: PR and Marketing Executive
How long have you worked at Formedia? One year this month (happy work birthday to me!)
What are your responsibilities? I am responsible for supporting on a variety of different client accounts, from generating posts on social media accounts, to copywriting newsletters, blogs and websites. I also arrange and manage a variety of different promotional campaigns and events.
What did you do before working at Formedia? Although I began my career in the hospitality industry, I found my passion for marketing and PR whilst at university. This led me to working at a PR agency, followed by working for a multi award-winning tour operator as a marketing executive.
What was your most memorable client in the past year and why? I was involved in the website design and copywriting for a Plymouth based care company. I got to visit each of the four homes to get a better understanding of what services each provided. I also interviewed a variety of the residents to gain a more personal experience of the homes, which was great fun – especially when I was introduced to the onsite Guinea Pigs!
It’s very satisfying when you work on a project from the very beginning through to the end and receiving positive feedback from the client.
What advice would you give to someone looking to work in the PR and Marketing sector? If you have an interest in the industry, begin by carrying out work experience at a local agency. You can work on a variety of accounts, which will give you a broader experience. Although I went to university, I did not study a PR and Marketing degree. I therefore gained experience in a variety of agencies and in-house marketing teams. This breadth of experience made me more desirable to potential employers.
What do you enjoy doing in your own time? I love to bake (especially when it’s a team member’s birthday), read a good book and travel. I would also class myself as the office entertainer – you can always count on me for a good story and a laugh!
